Meet Our Teachers!

My name is Corinne Saumenig. I am the Me & My Shadow 2’s teacher. I graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. I also hold a Master of Education in At-Risk Students from Goucher College. While attending Towson I taught in both a daycare setting, and a private preschool. I taught Kindergarten for Baltimore County Public Schools for 12 years. I resigned to stay home with my children, and I continue to take graduate courses at Penn State University – York, as well as online through the Maryland State Department of Education to maintain my teaching certificate.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our four children. I also like swimming, photography, and participating at our church. In the past, I have served as a Discussion Group Leader (DGL) for my Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group. I have also spent time volunteering at my children’s elementary school (Shrewsbury Elementary), and served as a Girl Scout leader.  I have been teaching the Me & My Shadow class at Faith & Fun since 2015. I love our supportive staff and leadership! Faith & Fun is like a family, from my perspective as both a teacher and parent! My youngest son starts this fall!

I love working with the two-year-old’s and their families. I look forward to introducing our littlest learners to God’s Love.

My name is Addie Ferguson and I teach the Busy Bees class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern University. I also have a background in fine arts, which transfers well into the preschool classroom. Prior to Faith & Fun, I taught at Head Start of York County for 10 years. There I collaborated with the LIU to create an inclusive educational environment. It is my intention as a teacher to always focus on the strengths of each child, celebrating what makes them unique and encouraging them to meet their goals. In my classroom, children will learn through play, songs, stories, and messy activities! Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our 2 daughters, gardening and cooking. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work at Faith & Fun where God and relationships are the focus and look forward to a new year here!

My name is Brittany Jarrell and I am the Monday, Wednesday, Friday Busy Bees teacher. My husband, Greg, and I have three beautiful children. Ben is 8, Savannah is 6, and Luke is 5. All three of my children attended Faith and Fun. We have two human sized dogs named Leia and Vader, two cats named Hermione and Albus, and a ball python named Narcissa. Those who know me, know I am a major coffee addict and a geek at heart! In my very rare free time I enjoy baking, watching movies, playing with our animals, and spending time with my kids. I am currently working toward my Early Childhood Education Degree. I have been teaching at Faith and Fun for two years and prior to that time I worked as a volunteer. I have been in love with this preschool since 2016 when my oldest started in the fours. We truly are a family here and I am blessed to be a part of it!

My name is Shanda Opsitos and I am the Monday, Wednesday, Friday teacher in the Leap Frogs class. I have a degree in Sociology and over 25 years of experience in the Early Childhood field. I have served as teacher, director and teacher trainer throughout my career. Most recently I worked at Head Start of York County for 10 years before deciding to stay home with our daughter, Nora. My goal as a teacher is to provide a nurturing, safe and fun environment for children to explore and play, and in doing so, learn from hands on experiences. I will work diligently to guide the children to respect others and their surroundings and to provide activities and experiences that enable them to grow and flourish as God intends.

My name is Yolanda Olmstead and I teach the Mon-Thurs, 4 year old Leapfrogs. I have lived in Shrewsbury with my two teenage children since the summer of 2017. We moved here from NE Florida where I taught preschool, managed a mobile dance company for children 3-6 years old, and ran my own children's theater company as well. My love for children started in college when I did touring children's theatre productions while getting my performing arts degree. And that love continued as I went on to get my ECE degree from Skagit Valley College in Washington State. When I'm not busy with my own children, teaching preschool, or running my Drama Kids of York County children's theatre business, I enjoy singing with my church's praise team at Stewartstown Baptist Church, acting in local community theatre productions, enjoying the PA outdoors, and being with family and friends. I consider it an honor and blessing to be a part of the Faith & Fun Preschool Family! My life verse is Philippians 4:13, and it is with God's wisdom and guidance that I walk along side you in creating a safe, fun, and faith based education during these precious early learning years of your child's life!

Hi! My name is Caroline Wilson. I am the Director of Faith and Fun Preschool. I live in Shrewsbury with my husband of thirteen years, Eric, and our two adorable children, Claire (8) and Miles (6). In my free time, I enjoy knitting, sewing, and playing with my children. I have my Bachelors degree in Communications from York College and my Masters in Education from Drexel University. I worked as a substitute teacher in grades from PreK up to Senior High for nearly twelve years and I was the three day Leap Frogs teacher at Faith and Fun for three years before taking on my role as director. My daughter and son both attended Faith and Fun and we just loved it! I’m so blessed that God brought my family to Faith and Fun. I have never found a more supportive and kind staff and such wonderful families.

Our Mission

The purpose of Faith & Fun Christian Preschool at Grace United Methodist Church is to create a faith-filled learning experience for both children and parents from all walks of life. This program will give the children the opportunity to explore and experiment in a safe and nurturing environment, therefore promoting spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical and social growth.

Our Program

Faith & Fun Christian Preschool is a parent – child cooperative program established as an outreach ministry of Grace United Methodist Church. We believe that children are a gift from God, entrusted to parents and educators to help develop their unique gifts. The children will be nurtured by a Christian staff and loving parents, learning Christian values hand in hand with traditional early childhood skills. We believe that children are natural learners when concepts are introduced through play and developmentally appropriate practices.

The program operates September through May. Those parents who sign up to be a volunteer are required to assist in their child’s classroom a few hours each month. Our volunteer calendar works on a rotating basis where, if you sign up to be a parent volunteer, you will be asked to sign up for a volunteer day approximately every 8-12 school days, depending on how many students are signed up for your child's class. For example, if your child's class has 12 students you will be volunteering as classroom helper approximately every 12 school days, depending on which day you choose to volunteer.
